Between the Lines is a collection of poetry that doesn't need a college class or professor to decipher. If any of it is in perfect iambs it's purely by accident. There are some rhymes, and some standard forms but the driving force is the words. This book is filled with laughter and tears, reflective revelations and snapshots of life. It is what this writer believes poetry should be-an approachable expression of the heart, mind, and soul. Poetry, like music, should be felt and experienced. The art of poetry has become an arcane science. The standard is to be cryptic and exclusionary. Modern poetry has become an adventure into uncharted space somewhere in a stranger's head. A concordance is needed to wade through the cryptic messages and obscure language. Between the Lines actively works to defy these standards. This poetry does not work towards elitism, but rather invites the reader to relate to the moment conveyed therein.
